Ring Round The Moon : JJ fan encounters
Submitted by kls010 on Sat, 09/02/2008 - 23:31.

3 of the forum members went to see Ring Round The Moon this afternoon and were lucky enough to meet JJ afterwards. The full (vaguely coherent) account is in the forum, however a huge thank you to JJ, who was lovely, chatty and happy to pose for photos, and sign autographs for us.
Photos are in the galleries but I added a scan of the autograph he did for all the Twinkler fans who may not get to see the play.
Ring Round The Moon was fabulous, very funny indeed. We were even treated to an impromptue slide and fall on stage by JJ. We initially thought it was part of the play..seemed appropriate for the scene anyway, but JJ told us it wasn't meant to happen.
The best bit was when he told us that during the curtain call he did a little slide as he came towards the audience which was to make the director laugh (due to his earlier falling over) We are only sorry we didn't tell him to keep that in for all the performances as it was a nice touch.

Lovely to meet you Kerenza.
Submitted by kls010 on Sun, 16/03/2008 - 18:28.Lovely to meet you Kerenza. Do see the play before it closes, it is brilliant. We did have to wait a while before seeing JJ, but that was because he was busy with the director. I dont know if that is always the case. A few of us are going on the 22nd, hope we see you there.

Well done ladies on plucking up the courage to meet JJ and our thanks to him to for recognizing the Twinklers!
I can't wait to see the play and like imajrim, I'm counting the days (although it will be a while yet!)
I bet JJ will never look at the word "twinkling" in the same way again ;)

Oh, I'm so happy you got to
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 10/02/2008 - 00:19.Oh, I'm so happy you got to meet him! So kind of him to sing your playtext for us. Thank you JJ! And the photos are great too!
I can't wait to see the play myself. I'm counting the days. :) In the meantime I can amuse myself by reading the play properly, as I've only skimmed it through. Did you notice the 'twinkle' line from the text? Was it used in the play? ;)

TS and I were nudging each
Submitted by kls010 on Sun, 10/02/2008 - 00:24.TS and I were nudging each other madly when he uttered the twinkling stars line...When the Twinklers head there in bigger numbers, he will have to get used to sniggering and gasps from certain members of the audience when he says it...
Yes I was feeling quite
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 10/02/2008 - 00:55.Yes I was feeling quite bruised! The word 'twinkling' is definitely emphasised though.

Thank you...

We know that not all fans
Submitted by kls010 on Sun, 10/02/2008 - 00:21.I want to second those
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 09/02/2008 - 23:51.I want to second those thanks to JJ for being so lovely when we met him this evening. He kindly agreed to pose for photos and answer questions and generally chat away.
As for the play itself, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ensemble cast was good and the rest of the audience seemed to find it as funny as me. JJ was excellent in the joint role of Hugo and Frederic - it was easy to tell who was on stage at any time, even before he spoke. I was quite worried when JJ had to climb a very rickety looking ladder that it wouldn't hold! Luckily it did, but he did have a falling incident whilst carrying some chairs. He recovered well though and left us wondering whether it was intentional or not (he later confirmed it wasn't!). The 2 dances during the play were both very good and the protagonists played off one another well during these; a tango scene featuring Lady India and Patrice, and a waltz (I think) with Diana and Hugo. All in all a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
One final comment, I hope JJ keeps in the little slide he did as he came towards the audience during the curtain call - it was a nice touch.

I agree about the play. They
Submitted by kls010 on Sun, 10/02/2008 - 00:01.I agree about the play. They were all fabulous, with incredible stage presence. Naturally I thought JJ stood out most but the timing was brilliant from everyone. I cant wait to see it again.

Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 13/02/2008 - 19:26.Yes, please join silver! Though it will of course take her some time to recover from fainting after watching NA. So I'll ask her again a few days after she has seen it. ;)
